One little place Delhi should be proud of.
It's 6:30 PM..has been a usual day at work..the iphone has only 18% battery left..you are driving home and the traffics also not bad..everything is not as bad as as a "bad" day is..but you want something to bring a big grin to your "mug"..
Thats when you need "The Pint Room"
Vasant Vihar D-Block market has been home to quaint little places and bank branches.
Always thought this complex is on the map only for a collage of banks, a classy "theka" and some out of the box restaurants. (i remember there was a "shalom" also here for a brief period)
So when we google this place and find out its location as D-block, its definitely a promise that I am into some tasteful adventure!

The place greets you with a whiff of friendliness. The colors are relaxed with a mix of red and wood and lots of green through the leaves.
The pint room is a 50-50 indoor outdoor idea. This makes it work best in winters when you can sit out and enjoy your evening. Since you are surrounded by green plants, you can let go of the evil smog thought that all Delhiites now have somewhere etched on their minds
On the Cards
A Quick chat with the bartender or lets call him the Beertender reveals that this is a brainchild of Mr. Pradeep Gidwani. As international beers made their foray into india a couple of years back, the Pint Room found its flavour and fans. However ,since most of the cocktails and non-beer drinks were not available, sometimes not a great idea for diverse groups. My friend wanted a vodka cocktail, which was not available, so this trip was not an elaborate one. But as a beer fan, there was quite a bit to indulge in. The waiter recommended the regular wheat draft, but i chose to try some new beers. They had Shepherd Neame IPA and Dos Equis XX Special Lager (both in bottles) which i had never tried before, so logically had to just go for them

The beers were not very exciting for me though.
Shepheard Neame IPA, as i researched, is called "the old man beer" is a tradition in itself. With a malt base, and with heavy hopping, the IPA has a charatcteristic mild bitterness. Since this was a december evening, this easy and light bitterness was suited to the cold and dry. The initial flavours that hit you hint toffee and malt. The color is dark amber and surprisingly with a very slight white frith head. After clicking my usual pictures i poured it out in my glass and paired it with a pizza that i had ordered. I have to say it was thoroughly enjoyable. So i headed to my next adventure with Dos Equis XX Special Lager. Now lager for me is always choice#2 since i prefer whit or IPA, so i was a little apprehensive while ordering. The bottle intimidates you with an almost "pirate like run bottle " quality. But its seriously not bad. This lager is clear and bright yellow, hails a lime kick, and the best thing about it is, that its a light headed beer. It does not take you away from its initial taste, and you stay in the zone of light body and dry finish.
